Podchaser, the most comprehensive database of podcasts, has announced $1.65 million in seed funding from High Alpha Capital, Hyde Park Venture Partners, Poplar Ventures, Lunsford Capital, Rich Greenfield, and Matthew Luckett.
The funding round will help support Podchaser’s three core initiatives: advanced search and discovery, industry-wide data standardization, and data-driven marketplaces for connection, as well as the launch of its guest placement platform, Podchaser Connect.
Podchaser hopes its industry-leading database — ratings and reviews, shareable lists, detailed tagging, over four million creator and guest credits — will serve as a standard dataset for the podcast industry. The company’s platform-agnostic database can be integrated and leveraged by any partner throughout the industry.
That company has leveraged its unique database of guest credits to launch its next product, Podchaser Connect, a data-driven guest placement marketplace that will pair brand representatives, university professors, authors, domain experts, etc, with relevant podcast audiences.
