Menlo Ventures, a leading venture capital firm, has announced the addition of a new partner, Amy Wu, to expand its consumer and gaming practice. Menlo Ventures has a strong track record of early investments in well-known consumer companies such as Chime, Pillpack, Poshmark, Roku, and Uber. Amy will be based in New York and will focus on making early-stage investments in categories like gaming and blockchain, as well as fund new consumer experiences made possible by technology shifts like generative AI.

Amy brings deep experience as an investor and operator in the consumer space. Prior to joining Menlo Ventures, she led investments in consumer, gaming, and blockchain at Lightspeed Venture Partners, where her investments included Epic Games and Faraway Games. She also focused on web3 and gaming at FTX Ventures, where she invested in companies like Sui and TripleDot Studios. As an operator, Amy served as SVP and CFO of Discovery Inc.’s Global and Digital Sports unit and worked in Singapore as the CFO of Discovery Asia-Pacific. She began her career at Insight Venture Partners, working with companies like JD.com and Tumblr.

With Amy on board, Menlo Ventures aims to double down on consumer investing and pursue outlier opportunities in new categories. Consumer exits typically drive a significant portion of the total exit value in venture capital each year, making this a strategic decision for Menlo Ventures. Amy’s expertise and collaborative nature make her a valuable addition to the team.

Amy is the latest addition to Menlo Ventures’ team of early-stage partners who leverage their extensive operating experience to focus on high-growth sectors. Previous additions to the team include former Splunk CTO Tim Tully, who joined in 2021, and 20-year life sciences veteran Greg Yap, who joined in 2017.

Menlo Ventures has a history of identifying category winners at the early stage, including companies like Benchling, Carta, Gilead, and Uber. With over 46 years of experience, the firm has grown a portfolio that includes more than 80 public companies and over 165 mergers and acquisitions.

Menlo Ventures is a venture capital firm that seeks to have a positive impact on everything they do. With a portfolio that includes companies like Carta, Chime, Poshmark, and Warby Parker, Menlo Ventures invests at every stage and in every sector, with expertise in Consumer, Enterprise, and Healthcare. They provide real impact and support to entrepreneurs where they need it most.
