According to a recent report by App Annie, The Data Behind 10 Years of Google Play, over 51% of Global Google Play spend in 2017 was in the APAC region.  Moreover, more than 79% of spend in the APAC region went to games.

Another data point to consider is that according to industry experts, 500 million new mobile internet users are expected to come online in the APAC region over the next 2-3 years.  This may further grow APACs share of downloads and spend in Google Play, making Asia the largest opportunity in the app stores in the next 5 years.
