ALOM, a global leader in supply chain management, has been recognized as a winner of the 2023 Top Supply Chain Projects Award by Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The company’s Road To Net Zero (RTNZ) initiative, which aims to achieve net zero carbon neutrality by 2030, was commended for its greenhouse gas emission (GHG) measurement and reporting structure.

Hannah Kain, President and CEO of ALOM, expressed the significance of the Road to Net Zero program in demonstrating the company’s commitment to carbon reduction and its impact on mitigating global warming. Kain also emphasized the importance of sharing information to serve as a guide for other supply chain organizations.

ALOM has made substantial investments over the past two years to achieve significant GHG reduction outcomes. This includes the use of 100% renewable energy at all its U.S. facilities, as well as initiatives such as supply base near-sourcing, freight reduction, packaging sustainability, and product lifecycle optimization.

The company’s COO, Brandon Marugg, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the RTNZ program, which extends upstream and downstream to integrate seamlessly with supplier and customer systems. He emphasized the importance of developing an ecosystem where customers, suppliers, and employees collaborate to achieve shared objectives.

ALOM’s RTNZ program offers several elements that other companies can adopt, including ISO-14064-1 certification to ensure transparency in measuring and reporting GHG emissions, being an EPA Green Power Partner, and adopting Science Based Targets (SBTi) to support net-zero standards.

The company has also implemented initiatives such as supplier near-sourcing to reduce freight distances, material recycling and reuse programs, and a re-engineered Returns Management System to minimize landfill disposal.

In addition to its commitment to carbon reduction, ALOM publishes an annual ESG report and is a corporate member of the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council, emphasizing its goal of transparency and community engagement.
